A Fields Center Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will observe your child in both home and school settings, have an interview / feedback session and provide a written Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP) which will include behavioral support strategies and customized materials development and a data collection system for your use.
Why you want a Functional Behavior Assessment
When an individual presents with challenging behaviors in the home, community or at school, the behavior may relate to a deeper struggle with their learning and development. Determining the reason for that behavior not only reduces disruptions but helps the individual learn and develop more successfully.
Parents and teachers can’t always change behaviors with the same strategies and management as they might for a neurotypical person. Often, parents and teachers are left with little support and resources to help their loved one or student succeed. In these situations, a functional behavioral assessment (FBA) can help in understanding the cause of a child’s behavior and creating a plan for potential solutions.
